While last week’s news was preoccupied with looking to the future, this week there’s a look back to the ‘dip’ at the end of what was a rollercoaster 2009 for the property market – but the good news is, things are back on the up!
Barratt Developments has reported a 43% increase in forward sales, mortgage repayments have hit a 13 year low and banks are finally starting to ease their lending restrictions with a 7% jump in the amount of mortgages available. Elsewhere however, worrying research highlights some are resorting to desperate measures to make their mortgage repayments.
Finally, a bit of light relief as we look from the sublime – how you could become the owner of a (crumbling) country pile, to the ridiculous – a beach hut without the door is tipped to sell for over £40k. The views must be spectacular!
