Recent research undertaken by property website Zoopla.co.uk shows that buying a home is cheaper than renting in most of Britain - monthly mortgage interest payments on a two-bedroom property are typically 8pc lower than the cost of renting a comparable home – surely this has to be good news for the new homes property market?
In other news, according to the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML), mortgage supply picked up in June with gross lending, which includes people remortgaging as well as housebuyers, rising by 15% to £13.1bn.
And finally, a pensioner who spent three years as the only resident of a luxurious gated retirement village is finally welcoming his first neighbours. I know we all like a bit of peace and quiet but a ghost town just isn’t fun.
People are better off buying a home rather than renting one in three-quarters of towns and cities across Britain, research has indicated.
